Thermal monocular

Does anyone use thermal monoculars to look for coon and squirrels in the tree? Anything good out there that won't break the bank to bad??

I don't, but its a learning and agravating thing as well.

I got one that can be used as a scope and a monocular. The problem I have found, is when you tree a coon in a big leafy or hemlock, you can see him with the terminal but most times there is not enought reference points on the trees or limis to get you exactly where they are. So unless its on a gun, it not so cool. It would be nice if some had a laser so when you find them with the thermal, you could point them out to other people.

thermal

I use an AGM 15-384. I find a lot of coons that won't look. It's not like you look through it and there's the coon. Sometimes you have look for him just like with your naked eye. Last night I saw one's eyes for a few seconds. I looked for 20 minutes with the thermal and never saw him. If the coon is in a thick place, he won't show up. That's rare. I paid $1295 for mine. Amazon has it now for $995. They also have a refurbished one for $595 and they offer a 3 year warranty fir $65.

Thermal monocular

I just purchased a Topdon TS004 that seems to do pretty well so far. For reference, I’ve never owned any other so I can’t truly give a comparison but for the price and my experience so far, I can’t complain.
