Hunts

Yes, I do think that UKC should use a elimination type format in ALL major hunts. Grand American, Winter Classic, Walker Days, etc. As this is the only way to have a true champion. Local club hunts don't need this format. No one should win a major hunt based on high score in one cast, just beating the dogs in l cast means nothing more than any other cast win. These major hunts should NEVER be decided by a high score in 1 cast. Dave

Question is all hunts. I voted No. Smaller clubs would be up.till daylight. Double headers would go away. Would each round have an entry fee? Alot of clubs are barely making it now? The world hunt takes 4 days and 2 weekends. Could smaller clubs handle this?
Recently a club drew 26 dogs. 7 casts. 7 winners, round 2... 2 winners, rd 3..2 dogs... take 3 hours minimum(would need 10 woods minimum for a 1 night hunt and not hunt same woods twice.
Summer, gets dark at 10:00pm. 1:00am starts second round, 4:00am starts 3rd round. ...or... have a 2 day.. but then draw 12 dogs... and only need 2 rounds...

Hunt

I remember a RQE. With a dead cast
Because real bad weather just was thinking
If one of the dogs got a chance at the world
Hunt would be cool. I don't know
How many RQE have dead cast but
It does happen.

I like the elimination style for the bigger hunts, local hunts should stay as they are now. I think when a dog wins its cast, it’s done all you can ask it to do. It should move on to the next round.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think a dead cast should be a dead cast. Local hunt or TOC semi-finals. If you don’t finish with plus then that’s it. UKC had always set that standard and it should’ve stayed that way. I’m not knocking any other KC either, I hunt them too. Moving on with 200- isn’t much to hang your hat on. Especially when a dog in another cast lost with 400+ lol. My .02

I will have to vote No because the question was all hunts. I don't think the local clubs could ever do this. Sometimes it's hard enough finding guides for casts now. And everyone would be forced to be up all night. This will cause officials to not be willing to do them.
I would support the idea for major hunts.
