Suggestion on pup loading in dog box

I have a 14 month old pup. Due to physical condition I need advice on getting the pup to load up in dog box by himself. Thanks for any suggestions. 601-757-9969

Break up some hot dogs, give him some while on the ground, then put some on the tailgate while giving him a command like “kennel”
Then put some in the box say kennel,
After using this repeatedly over a few days, he will load on his own when you tell him to kennel or whatever command you choose.

Have used this same method with one addition. At first I put a bale of hay or something so it's easy for the dog to get up. Once he's got it down, and wants the reward, he'll jump in. One other thing I had a dog that would not touch a hot dog so you need to find what he really likes.

Mine load up because they think theyre going hunting.ha.Let the tailgate down and let em out ,by the time im to the truck theyre in the box. They seem to know when i walk out the door whether im going hunting or not. Dogs are smart.Yours will figure it out too. When theyre pups i put em in the back of the truck alot and pet em and talk to them to load up.They like it.The hotdog trick sounds good if your dog hasnt been handled much.

I will try that. I tried the hot dogs this morning. He went from the ground to the tailgate to loading up on the second try. After that he loaded up every time. I will continue this for a few days. Thanks for all of you that had a part in this. Also phone calls. Hope this freedom of coon hunting never dies. God Bless.
