Major Events on the East Coast..

Let me start by admitting that I’m partial, being from Virginia and wanting a major event closer to home. Ever since STWD moved from Salisbury to Union, I’ve been curious why east coast states closer to the Mason-Dixon Line don’t get much consideration as major event locations. VA, MD, PA, NC, WV all have some great hunting.

Are some neighboring states THAT much better to where they hold multiple events instead of spreading them out some more? I know these areas I mentioned have held large hunts in the past.. just interested to see different opinions on this!

Ryan it takes a group to get together to make this happen..A large event could be held in southern va to northern north carolina ..It could be a breed event or a whole new hunt but it would take a team effort to get anything started..Our Va.State hunt was one of the largest held year after year but Im afraid father time has caught up to alot of us ..It has been moved this year and would love to see some large numbers..Also moved it off of toc weekend which I hope will help.

I’m hoping the State hunt does well this year! With the new location and better prizes, I think it should have a better turnout than recent years..

They say “father time” is undefeated, lol. All I know to do to counteract it is keep encouraging the youth! I have no doubt these larger events require some real effort.. our local club can be a chore on its own when only a couple people pitch in!

It would be good to see something come together closer to the Commonwealth.. if nothing else maybe the conversation can spark some ideas.

If you hold an event on the east coast it's hard to get participation from the east. Most big hunts are more centrally located so more people can attend.
