Want reviews on the pride 31/22 dogfeed

Thinking about switching to pride 31/22 because of the price just wanted to know if anyone was feeding it and how they like it

I am feeding it and I really like it. Dogs seem to do well on it and not alot of clean up.

I’ve fed it to pregnant and nursing females, raised pups on it, and used it in the winter time to keep weight on dogs and it is a good feed in my opinion. If I was hunting a dog super hard it would be a great feed in my opinion. 524 Kcals a cup is really high plus corn is way down the ingredients list so almost nonexistent.

The Pride

The Pride is a very good dog food, especially the Black Bag ( 24/20 ) and the Orange Bag ( 32/21 I think )......But it is too hard to get in my area. I did find the Orange bag at a Pet Store in Kokomo Indiana but it was $57+ tax......Nope, not worth that in my opinion.

Re: The Pride

Not that I'm an expert but me and my Dad have fed Pride dog food for around 30 years. In that time period I know it's been in the 100's of dogs and puppies that we have fed the different blends too, so this is touching on a lot of different age groups and body types of hounds.

We started with the 21 10 blend. Back in the day that was pretty much the industry standard. Then you just fed the amount that it took to keep weight on a dog and it took a lot of feed to keep one up if they were being stressed by hunting, raising pups, or cold weather.

Then they introduced a a 22 12 blend (Porcine Meat and Bone Meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Ground Brewers Rice) and a 26 18 blend (Porcine Meat and Bone Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Yellow Corn). We switched to those blends, mainly the 26 18 blend for the dogs we were hunting, pregnant females, and pups. We, me and my Dad, had great results from that blend. It was more expensive but we could feed less per dog.

Later, Pride introduced the Pro Series. I think a lot of people switched from their previous "premium" blends to the Pro Series because of the name. Those blends were the 21 17 (Chicken By Product Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Yellow Corn) and the 27 20 (Chicken By Product Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Yellow Corn) blends. I liked the 21 17 blend for the summertime. When we switched to the 27 20 blend in the winter time I noticed that I had to feed more of it than I did the old 26 18 blend so we switched back to the 26 18 and had better luck with it than the 27 20.

Later Pride came out with the 31 22 (Chicken by Product Meal, Steam Rolled Oats, Chicken Fat) blend. I used it as a mix in the harsh winter months, to pregnant and nursing females, and raised pups feeding it. I personally think this is there best blend to feed in those situations or if a person was hunting the hair off of their dogs. It also has the least amount of corn in it for summer time hard hunting. I think some of the nicest pups I've raised were fed this blend. However, the cost per bag is significantly higher and a lot of people have told me that they didn't see that much or any difference between it and the other better blends Pride offers. My opinion is that a person isn't going to see much difference unless the dog is subjected to needs that are going to require more Kcals. It has a Calorie Content ME (Calculated) 4589 Kcal/Kg 524 Kcal/Cup. For comparison the 27 20 blend has a Calorie Content ME (Calculated) 4067 Kcal/Kg 497 Kcal/Cup and the 21 17 blend has a Calorie Content ME (Calculated) 3687 Kcal/Kg 419 Kcal/Cup,

The other feed that a lot of people like is the 24 20 blend (Porcine Meat and Bone Meal, Ground Wheat, Ground Yellow Corn) with a Calorie Content ME (Calculated) 3853 Kcal/Kg 437 Kcal/Cup. In my experience it isn't a bad feed at all but it did take more dog food to keep a dog's weight on so although it cost a little less it cost more in the long run to feed a dog in the winter time using it. I also have a preference in dog food of trying to get brewers rice in the second or third ingredient and not a big fan of wheat in the first three ingredients because of the smell coming out the other end.

To me the rankings I have for the different blends are
(1) 31 22
(2) 26 18
(3) 27 20 and 21 17 depending on the weather
(4) 24 20

BUT opinions are like buttholes and everyone has one. lol.

The Pride

When I fed it 20 years ago, I tried every Blend they had available & was Sold on the 24/20 Blend. I was Hunting hard with Several Buddy's & by myself averaging 5-7 nights a week & most nights long Hunts. The 24/20 seemed to keep weight on the 3 Hounds I was Hunting & their hair was always very shiny.
My Buddy that hunted with me also Sold The Pride Dog Food & that's who I bought it from. He preferred to use the 26/18 Blend over the others.
In last few days I have found a guy that sells it & is about 30 minutes from me & I probably will try it again. I don't hunt nothing like I used to & only have 1 Dog at my house...a OMCBA Pup.
