Maybe we need a new rule.
Is it the dog or handlers fault when other dogs aren't prepared? I agree with keeping the cast together when guys withdraw or are scratched. But dogs staying it on any level in any hunt just because they "paid" the entry is elementary level mindset. When you're beat you're beat and if it fulfills your pride to be able to say you competed the whole hunt then that's sad and there's much bigger problems that need dealt with.
When guys are striking their dogs in the last leg of the cast down 3 plus coon in a hunt where you need a good score to advance that's just flat poor sportsmanship. There should be a class on sportsmanship before ever being allowed to compete in any big national level hunts.
Situations like this are the reason "UKC" hunters have a bad name from other folks in other kennel clubs. Guys over there accept when they are beat and go to the next one.
