Glad you got your dog to the vet.
Puncture wounds are tricky. They can leave behind debris which can be a source for infection. They can perforate or puncture organs. With the sub q emphysema, my first thought was a punctured bowel…second would be lung. Air typically doesn’t come in from the outside…think pressure gradients…through a wound, but I don’t suppose it’s impossible. Hope your dog makes a full recovery.
