Get ahold of YadkinRiver on here or Pete Barber. Those two could probably tell you more than anyone.

Mike you would be better off talking to Pete or Rodney Hubbard about these dogs. I hunted with the Lacy dog quite a bit and she was in the elite class of coondogs. The Hub dog was off her and was something special too.

I got a female and this is her bottom side I’m thinking about breeding her but don’t know what she would cross good on.Her daddy is French Broard Gus he went from nothing to grand nite only loosing 2 cast then they started bear hunting him and all the Bear hunters and breeding to him.She is very independent and want back another dog.

I would reccomend line breeding her but not too close as she is tight bred herself. talk to the boys at Kitt Creek Kennels or Rodney Hubbard. Both are not far above NC in the edge of Virginia.

Gotta love the heart and drive of those Yakin River Dogs. Takes some real drive to make a bear dog. Dave

Sounds like awesome hounds…thanks
I’ve never hunted bear and would like to go one day…but I have talked with bear hunters and those that know hog dogs and bear dogs have said this to me…

Not all hog dogs will bay a bear…all bear dogs will bay a hog…
I reckon it’s something about the bears demeanor that puts fear in some dogs…
