We have about 4 generations of coon hunters coming here. Each generation has a different view on how their generation does or did it. One or two of the generations can't even do it anymore but still want to tell those that can how to do it. One or two generations that haven't done it want to tell the ones that have how they are wrong.
Take the 4 generations, hunting two or three different registries. Training 5 or 6 different breeds of hounds hunting several different types of game. Some finally learn that this is a recipe for arguments.
Worse part is even when you only have ONE of something we can't agree. We have one set of rules. Ask a serious rule question and after 5 days and pages of different ways it should be handled. You still are confused on what the answer is.
Family, Hounds and your Heritage in this Sport. Greatest Joy a man can find next to God. We have all that at our fingertips and still find problems. Comment I have learned to live by. Share what you have in common and don't dwell on your differences.
Someone wants to know how to turn on your Garmin. I am here for you. Want to know how to stop your dog from slick treeing. As soon as I mention SWITCH. We are enemies and I am evil. We love, pamper, protect and treat every dog as if it was gold. How did that work our for your kids? The foundation of success is to CULL. That word will bring the world down upon you. We don't cull anymore. And it shows!
It's been a minute or 2 since I've been on here, but you're right on "culling". How guys are culling is moving it down the road instead of dirt naps or spaying or neutering the dogs. Most of the general public has no idea about hounds let alone how to train a house dog. Guys have this notion that you can't correct a dog at the tree, for anything.
