2 questions alpha 100

Ok I'm learning how to use the Alpha 100, my first question is there anyway to turn off the spot marker with the orange top on pencil, it is constantly following my sweaty finger?
Question 2 is they're anyway to freeze the map screen to scroll in or out. I've always used the 220 I could move the pointer arrow to freeze the screen. Thanks in advance to everyone, and good hunting.

.

About the map pointer. You can go to your map page and then select menu and then select the down arrow for the second page of menu items. You can then see and turn off the MAP POINTER.

Not sure I understand your second questions but there are + and - symbols that increase or decrease the size of the map.
They are on the upper right of the screen.

If you ever get the map off center from where you are at and want it centered there again. Just hit the back button (lower left of screen or some call it return button) and you are back to the map being centered around your location with a distance dictated by the increase of decrease buttons.

Thanks Bruce for the help. I'll try to explain question 2 better if I can. If I cut my dog north, on my 220 I'd go to map, point my handheld towards the direction my dog is going, then I'd move the arrow on the map and the screen would stay stationery. I could get in my truck and watch the dog, without having to point towards the dog by using the map +or- no matter which direction I was facing. In the winter here in Oklahoma, we will cut and sit in the truck until they tree, then drive to them.. I hope this will make sense. Thanks for the help.

Bruce after doing what you said on questions, my map pointer was off, so I turned it on, and went to map, I saw the white arrow at the top left of screen, I tapped on it and it went to North, and that froze my screen from moving around and that is what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the help. Good hunting!

.

The white pointer your talking about is another way to select the setting for Track UP or North UP. I would say that most operate their Handheld with Track UP as it makes most sense to most to have their screen show the direction they are traveling. But some and it appears you are one of them that like North UP. For me when you have North UP and you are facing South. Everything on the screen is backwards. I just prefer to have the screen and the map on it showing the direction I am looking.

Glad you are getting things worked out.
