What’s your opinion

3 dog cast…

A. Struck
B. Struck
C. Struck

Dog B treed ….walk in and dog has coon in a small pond. Dog handled; strike plussed only. COON NOT KILLED.

Walking back to last place dog A and C are heard to apply the 6.

Walked about 300 yards…dogs heard and dog B is recut and struck back toward the pond. Dog B comes treed. Walk in and Dog B is 25 yards off the pond on a tree, with the coon.

What do you think?

Plus him up both ways... you can't score the same "tree" twice but you can score the same coon multiple times! Pretty simple one today there Tim!

It usually doesn't workout for me. Mine will either kill it and shut up, let it get away from her and she would trail out of there and id take a minus...

That’s my luck too, but Nick won last night on this. He’s so lucky.

Well…in this particular hunt, it was a PKC cast.

Uh....... Tyler. Rule 5 mentions both previously scored trees AND coon. Let's just say you're referring to PKC rules. We'll leave it at that cause it will start a second debate for Trevor to iron out but he's at a family reunion this weekend.

Allen

My question is how would you prove it's the same coon?

LOL…. I had never had this happen and thought it interesting. I just don’t know how you’d prove it was the same coon.

In PKC, it refers to deleted points for returning to a previously scored “tree”. Doesn’t specify coon.

What if the coon didn’t climb and took off, you recut and they catch him again. Can you keep plussing the strike?

I had that part figured out, I was just wondering why it was questioned and brought up on this site instead of the other one. I do see it as a neat scenario and I feel it was scored correctly. Never the less, it’s a neat series of events

I only posted it for conversation, so don’t be so sensitive. No need to attack me over it. I know the rule very well, been doing it a long time. Just thought it was one of those things that don’t happen very often and thought I’d post it. This is a discussion forum right?

I went back to the original post and took out all the scores making it (coon hunting gender neutral) so it doesn’t offend anyone on this page. As Doc Hollywood would say, now we can be friends again……lol

Tim, no hard feelings here. Maybe my bad day at work had me in a wrong mind set. I guess I viewed it as a scoring question for that hunt on this forum. As u said it is a interesting situation and you are on a forum. Good luck in the future.

Most of all, THANK YOU for your service to our country!

Thanks Sonny! I just like to post the out of the ordinary events, and lord knows I still learn something every time.

Take care buddy.

What if dogs tree, coon is seen and scored as plus. You lead off and one dog goes back and strikes at tree but runs wide open for 50 yards and trees again. You have to walk by original tree to score 2nd tree and you see that coon has left. There is a coon in the 2nd tree. Do you score it?

You score it. Is there a chance that coons travel in pairs? Lol. Unless that coon has a tag in its ear and you climb up there and verify it’s numbers, how do you know it’s the same coon?
