Bruce, I've been hearing the asp 25 is the one to buy so what's the difference with Taipan 19. Should I go with the asp 25 or the Taipan 19. I'm in southeast Louisiana so you should be familiar with the heat ,humidity and thick vegetation. Asp or Taipan?

I am going to specifically talk coonhunting here. Many of this can also be duplicated for HOG and YOTE hunting but there are some slight difference, mainly the range your dealing with. A tree compared to several hundred yards away.

The AGM ASP 25 has became a favorite because it worked. Like all technology and life. Newer models come out. That is what the TAIPAN 15 and 19 are. A newer version. They are a version that are about half the size of the APS 25 and 35. Many knowledgeable people in this area have said the TAIPAN has not proven itself over the summer months yet. When the tree and leaves are retaining heat. Are you going to be able to find and see the coon clearly. Well it wasn't as hot as it is going to get, but a couple nights ago in 75* weather it worked well for me. Let it get 85 at night after 90+ degree day. That perhaps could change. Guess the thing that amazed me is how the leaves seemed to disappear and you were able to see the coon clearly. With the light and I use a bright one. All you could see was leaves. Now a couple other things. The TAIPAN 15 I feel should work well for the coonhunter. The field of vision is about perfect for looking at trees. I will kind of explain that this way. You probably have seen many different lights in a tree. Some very bright but have a piercing small spot. Others are bright but have more of a flood and you can seem more of the tree. Thats the difference here. The TAIPAN 15 gives you good coverage in a tree or a broader field of view. The price point on the TAIPAN is also one can work for many. It is $1295 while 19 is $1595 and the ASP 25 is $1795. Several neat things about it is you can attach it to your phone and actually operate the function buttons from your phone and record at the same time. You can also save an image or video to the unit and download later.

They say the ASP model will go away at some point and be replaced by the TAIPAN but I have gotten different stories on that. So I think they are waiting to see how the TAIPAN does this summer.

We are also testing at Taipan 19 along with the 15. We are using the 19 more for longer range scanning.
