Direct son or Direct daughter

See these terms thrown around often in the hound dog world. Why is that? They either are a son of their father and mother or a daughter of their father and mother. What value or elite standing does the word “direct” have?? Is there such a thing as an indirect son or daughter???

Because people that have dogs or pups for sale will say "pups out of House's Lipper" then when you look into it he is in the 3rd or 4th generation. Thats my guess.

This is exactly the reason. In a perfect world when people advertised "House's Lipper Pups" they would be a litter out of House's Lipper (or any stud or dam, I'm just using Lipper as an example).

Instead what you have are people trying to pull a fast one by advertising "House's Lipper Pups" where Lipper is a several generations back. The pups could be called Lipper-bred, but some sellers aren't that scrupulous.

Saying a litter of pups is "directly out of House's Lipper" clears up the matter completely. You know the sire and/or dam before even reading more of the ad or the parent's pedigree.
