Don’t see much about them. Anyone hunt or breed them? Interested in elkhounds, also.

Laika are great natural treeing dogs. Very good in colder climates. They love to hunt through the deep snow here in Michigan. I know these dogs are popular in Arkansas also, and it is much warmer there so it seems they can adapt to a variety of conditions.
They are easy to train as their instinct is very keen to treeing game. I use my dogs on both squirrels and raccoon.

Never n around them. My understanding is they do not pack well with others. Will they trail a long coon track and do they have the temperament to run with a buddies hound?

Usually Laika hunt alone. If the dogs hunt together regularly, then the would be ok. I think introducing a Laika to other dogs at a young age would be best.
Laika don't follow a cold track like a hound. The hunt with a "high" nose, on hot track and run silently until treed.
Often I only have a couple of hours to hunt raccoon after work, and it is easy to recall a Laika when the hunt is done, unlike using a hound.
