Some suggestions for UKC

Why isn't there a HTX HALL OF FAME title? There's a HALL OF FAME title for every other coonhound event. It could be done the same way as the rest of them are done. After a certain number of passes the dog gets it becomes HTXHOF. Might get more people to hunt in the HTX hunts which means more money for UKC. Another suggestion is since there's now GR whatever 2,3,4 and so on and the HTX titles do the same thing why not have a list of the highest one for each breed?

I think they already do the multiple HTX awards... If have to look but I think my dogs grandma says HTX x 3. I wish it would as easier to find HTX events. I don't think they show up on the events calendar of the website.

Not a title

HTX is not a title, it is a certificate. You have to have competition to earn a title.

Nothing wrong with HTX if that’s what you’re in to, but it is not nor has it ever been a title, just a certificate.

Tarbaby, why would they do that? UKC gives titles per casts won not money won. Isn't that a better measure? Some dogs win only one cast and win a bunch of money while another dog wins 10 casts and doesn't win any money.

Titles are for competition dogs and certificates are for pleasure hounds. In the past UKC did not keep track of Gr Nt wins. So they came up with the HOF program. UKC has always kept track of HTX wins and recorded them on a dogs papers.

They are in the money game now they will have to to draw the hunters away from the other kc we are not creating new hunters as fast as we are loosing them. Kinda like when one burger joint came out with the mushroom Swiss burger now they all got them but whataburger is my preference lol.

Richard Lambert the HTX hunts are for dogs that aren't a me too dog not just pleasure dogs. I've seen alot of ntch's and grntch's that couldn't tree a coon by themselves if the coon had a pork chop tied to it. A HTX degree tells me more about a dog then a ntch. or grntch. title does.

No disrespect just my opinion

I could care less if a hound is PR dog, grandnite Hof or htx 500, if I want to know what a dog is I go hunt with it. Hunt multiple times and the dog will show you what it is. I do love the HTX hunts. I have no problem showing my mutts by themselves, better or worse. I've found most that bad mouth the htx are those not packing what I call a coondog. But in saying all of this I feel most who hunt mainly in the htx could care less if UKC makes a hall of fame for em. I like to judge and see other dogs go by themselves. I've heard plenty of trash talk about em, heard plenty of good about em and heard I'm not into it but if you are than great. The last one always leaves me wondering if their not into seeing their dog tree coons, what the heck are they into. Hmmm.

I like it when me and one dog can tree Coons most every time I go.

I might be the only one that feels like this lol but id save my money and go hunt the hunts after I have got the htx title on my dog I just don't see the point in getting htx25 on a dog. if ukc does anything different id like to see a state race just do it by the cast wins in a year give something to each state winner they would be surprised of how many hunters would enjoy that...…..

UKC attempted to do that with the Purina Race but you only got points for big hunts, not local cast wins. They also publish Performance point winners lists. These points are earned at the local level. But you have to subscribe to the Bloodlines Mag to see the list.

the purina race back in the day was a total train wreck...….. it would be nice to do a state race in ukc for just cast wins if its for local hunts and state hunts would count it might actually get more people interested in some local ukc hunts!!!!!!!! I know a lot of guys are pushing hard for there 5 cast wins but I believe most of them are done after they get there 5 cast wins. A state race might keep them coming back threw out the year

I could make a couple suggestions I think would help or I would like to see. But as of now I believe the UKC has made some big changes and people need be little more patient. Added purse for world champion, big money hunt with 5 cast wins qualify. New policy for make NT ch and GNT ch. I think these changes are working. Saw 20 dogs hunted last night ( in rain) 14 friday and 18 last Friday. Seems like step in right direction to me. Uncle was double cast winner and double slam Friday won $200 something. Saw several new face and some people come that was traveling long way to hunt and even some old timers that had been in hunt long time. Our club hunt monday had 12 dogs.
