Who has used both methods and which do you prefer? In the bird dog world it is pretty popular to have a cab with crates on top of a drawer system. Has anyone done this or seen it and how does it compare to the standard box in the bed?

Heck I used a 55 chevy 4 dr for years. Hard a plywood divider and wire across the back of the front seat. lol wish I had the car now. Not the dogs

Heck when l was in high school my first dog hauler was an old Dodge 4 door. No back seat and a piece of hog panel divider. I drove the stupid thing to school also.

I look back now and l must have been a real hick! That was back in the 70s.

I am in need of a new set up. I am torn between the cap with crates and a bottom storage seneca box. Does anyone on here have a bottom storage seneca?

The dog box set up is better you can sell your box if you want, move it around .Also no camper or topper if you like or need a topper then crates can be handy but if you don't want or need a topper or enclosed bed a dog box is the way to go imo

I've used a Leer cap/topper for years and have the sliding side windows and a front slider as well. Have 2 large crates for the dogs. Got plastic storage box with a lid with side clamps to put leashes, chaps, tie outs, etc. in.

Works great for me. Might not be so good in the south or Midwest where you guys get a lot more heat then here in the Northeast.

My hunting buddy had a 1975 Ford Granda. He took the speakers out of the panel in the back so the dogs would have some air holes while riding in the trunk. It was a good set up until we got us some girls riding with us they didn't appreciate the ingenuity of our coonhunting abilities.
