Dog

5.00 a day would be cheap just for feeding and caring for the dog, more if hunting and training was involved, plus ALL COSTS for Vet bills. Looks like the bare minimum for what you have done would be in the neighborhood of 3 thousand dollars. My position would be that he abandoned the dog, no sane human being would expect ownership of something left for 18 months, nor would you have a duty to keep something that long. Dave

2 questions

1. Is this dog a super nice hound? I figure it must be a stem winder if you kept it for 18 months.
2. Is this guy your wife's younger brother? A poor decision here and you may be sleeping on the couch.

I think---this should have been done before the dog was left??

what the rate was going to be.

Elvis Presley sang your song back in the 60's, something about "Fools Rush In, Where Angels Fear to Tread!!!

Or as I tell my grandkids, "somethings are not taught in school."

My guess he just got took to school.

If your interested I live in Missouri but have a nice ocean front property in Arizona I've been trying to sell. I'll cut you a deal on it.
Seriously the guy you are dealing with is probably not worth dealing with. Bad deal at this point. I bet you don't get any money and he'll be mad and say you done him wrong. Live and learn, lessons like this are ones you don't forget.

If your just helping a fellow out he doesn't really owe ya anything but a thank you. Of course I do feel he took advantage of you but if your assuming he owes you money ( other than dog food money)than maybe your taking advantage of him as well.
Offering to help someone should be just that. not expecting to reap benefits.

Pam Johnson

Are you serious? A month is one thing, 18months is something else! No one should expect that kind of "help". Feed alone with vet care costs more than what the dog is probably worth, why should anyone get stuck like this? Any man worth a dime would never do someone like that, should of got his dog back when promised a month later.....................SMH. Dave

No one else has asked so I will............what was the agreement you had with the guy when he left the dog with you? Was any compensation mentioned or agreed upon? What were the circumstances of him leaving the dog in the first place? Had there been any contact with the guy in the 18 months you had the dog? Most stories have 2 sides. What's his??

I have to agree with this.....
I also feel there is probably more to the story ?
3 or 4 Months would be a long period to keep one, 18 Months is just Crazy....!!!!
