Bruce: Did I have self inflicted problem?

Alpha 100 & TT15s: Bought new at AO 2019. Updated twice. Fully charged. Everything works great until temps start dropping. Then touched screen would not work properly. Sat night 28 degrees and wind of 15 to 20 mph. Everytime I touched the screen the whole screen would light up orange. Lost all communication with dogs. Fast forward 2hrs later in the house I removed the plastic screen protective cover I bought thinking it was good investment. Touch screen worked as soon as I turn it on. Has every since. Hunted Sunday night low 20s when I got in it worked fine.

Here is my question. Did the plastic screen saver get to cold and loose flexibility? So when I touched it would push the whole screen at once? Or is touch screen heat sensitive and not letting heat through?

By the way old time coon hunting kicked in. Hearing not as good as long time ago. When I found them they were parked under a coon. Did bring back memories.

Thanks for your thoughts

Randi Bidlack

.

The answer depends on your screen saver as it apparently was the problem. They several different models out and some with the hammer proof glass don't work so well in cold and even some times hot. Some after market ones are thicker and give problems with cold. I use the ones from Garmin but not in the cold and only had a problem with a grain of sand from time to time got under the edge.

One suggestion. You may be able to use the screen protector in the cold if you use one of those Stylus pointers. Might be worth a try.

I think I can answer that one. Your "zoom map to dogs" setting is probably on. If so, your screen will automatically zoom out to encompass the last known location of dogs in your list.

Go to "Dogs Setup" , then scroll to "Zoom map to Dogs" and turn it off.
