Ear problems with labs

Couple of my daughters labs spend a lot of time in the pool. LOL They seem to have continual ear problems and the vet has diagnosed it as Bacterial and Yeast issues. His opinion is as long as they continue to visit the pool they will have reoccurring problems.

Anyone have an opinion on something over the counter or general product that may help.

If you will call me I have the recipe for a well known ear remedy as I was the one that made it for its original owner.

Bruce, Zymox is the brand name for yeast or fungal infections. They make an ear cleaner too but that’s not the one you want. If it’s bacterial don’t use anything water based as it will only make it worse. Zymox is good stuff.

I had ear issues for a while and only two dogs out of seven...I thought maybe earmites...I used my old reliable home remedy but it didn’t work and I knew it should have worked...

In the meantime the feed I had used for many years seemed to be losing it’s quality after years of good consistent dog food... I was having to increase the dog food to maintain good weight on the dogs...the stools were runny etc...someone on this site mentioned ear infection issues...I swapped dog foods and ear problems went away...

There was head shaking, ear scratching and scratching neck areas...one had his ears bleeding...not all dogs had serious ear infections but all were having trouble maintaining weight...

Not saying that is your problem but it is something to look at...

Well, she seems to have found a good spot if she's shooting 'em over her pool.

I'm assuming bleachand/or chemicals are being used in the pool? If so, could those be causing issues?

WHY WOULD YOU NOT USE LYSERINE IN THERE EARS SOON AS THEY GET OUT OF WATER, ITS A ANTICEPTIC, OK FOR IN YOUR MOUTH, OK IN THERE EARS, MUCH CHEAPER THAN A VET.
