Boots!

So I know I'll get a million different opinions here and that's alright. I've been wearing bekinas with badland chaps for the past 3 years now and am currently on my second pair. I hunt 4-6 nights a week for at least a couple hours a night. I hunt from hills to river bottoms and yes I walk my guts out. Recently my second pair of bekinas (not even a year old, bought at AO) are cracking or breaking on the sole where the ball of your feet would be. The first pair of bekinas I had weren't the deep tread and didn't do this but this pair is nearly shot. What boot is out there that would fit me?
Lightweight is a must
Non-insulated as I wear Bama Socks every night
Half way comfortable unless there is room for an insole
No Mucks-too heavy and they eat my heels.

I’ve had the best luck as far as durability out of the Bekinas. They are not the most comfortable boot for me. I also wear the Bama booties and use superfeet insoles they make a world of difference you will have to order a larger size for the insoles and booties.

Tyler there are a couple boots I think you should check out.

I am assuming your a young man in good shape with normal to thin legs. I use to be that way and there is a boot that has been made for years that fits that size leg well. It is the lacrosse non insulate boot. Commonly called the Lacrosse Grange (older name). These boots are to tight around most peoples calves but they always wore good for me.

The second boot to check out might be the Quatro non insulated. Plenty of room and with booties they are comfortable if you don't get them too big.

Good luck in your search..We sale a few pair of boots a year and in the last year we have chapped at least 30 different kinds for customers..100 percent satisfaction was nearly zero..With today selection of boots on the market if you get a year that is a good set..If you truly walk a lot its like the set of tires on your truck they wear out..Comfort is the key and as you get older your feet will show you which one is best..Buy something comfortable and expect six months anything more is a bonus ..Not much help

Thanks guys!

I know its a constant battle to keep a rubber boot from getting a hole, stub, thorn, and so on and keep them light and functional as well as cool. I liked the functionality of the bekina and may end up going back I just didn't like the fact that the boot had a malfunction rather than a self inflicted problem. Ill just try some different pairs on at SS and see what I like. Quality is a hard thing to find these days as we all know. I appreciate the input and we will see what I like next week!

Every time I read one of these boot posts I'm tempted to mention the Lacrosse Grange(it used to be the Hiker and the hip boot was Big Chief). I've been wearing this type of boot for 60 years. They are a little hard to get on and off, but you can walk all night in them. They are light and don't pull off when you walk in mud.

.

I think the Lacrosse Grange (non insulated) was the best boot I ever wore until my legs got to big.
Most of America's legs have out grown this boot. LOL

Tyler, come by and see us at the SS. We will have a few pair for you to try on. We have the Bekina, uninsulated Quatros and the LaCrosse Grange. Plus several insulated boots as well.

boots

i've had a pair of dans on their 5 star since the came out, i hunt 2-3 nights a week in steep mountains, and i mean steep, no farmland. they just fell apart friday night hunting after 3 years. i just ordered a new pair of yoder cougars with super chaps today. look forward to trying them out.

i like the quattros and i dont know if they can be worn out, but they are a litte stiff and a tad heavy for my likings. they dont work as well for me as the dans did for the mountains, but flat land i like them very well.

I’m glad to see some people are still wise and realize that the old lacrosse boots are the best!

I feel the same way you do fellor!! I had the older bekinas and was very satisfied. The knee ones ain’t as tough already got a hole in them. I will say if you get a boot you like I’d get a hold of Johnny dalton and have him put his chap on them!! I’ve wore many different chaps and boots in my time but that garnet chap is by far my favorite. I think I’m going with the Quattro non insulated boot myself. Good luck it’s the hardest thing to find next to a coon dog

Don’t wear what I have right now cause I’m walking around with wet feet lol it was awful last night. These new bekinas have a pen size hole in them. I can’t believe they not as tough as them old ones. They ruined a good boot!!

Boots

For the last year and a half I have been wearing Ariat Conquest boots. They are a square toe rubber boot with a sole like a Wellington. Can get them with light insulation or non insulated. No leaks, light and very comfortable. Not seen anyone yet thats puts chaps on these. Most my hunting is hills so I dont need waders very often, have a pair of Bekinas for when I do. Next pair I buy will be these Ariats and get someone to put chaps on them. Best rubber boots I’ve had so far. I normally get about a year out of any of them. Lacrosse, muck, quatro, etc.

May stick a thorn thru them but the soles wont come off the the original burly or lagrange. They are a one piece design.

I've never seen a sole come off of a Lacrosse boot. My complaint is, they crack after a while. I use tire patches and get a little more use out of them.

I wear the Lacrosse Grange. I like them because they last and when I do need another pair I can buy them and feel I've gotten a good deal. The sole has never come apart like others I used to wear.

To keep rubber boots from cracking clean them off with soap and water and use armor all, or olive oil to keep the material pliable. Frequency depends on use but it works

After 20+ years of wearing dogleg type boots I've just accepted the fact that they are all junk and nothing will last more than a year (and more like 6 months) without leaking, tearing, seam separating, etc. etc.

I've tried a half dozen or more makes and models over the years. If I make it over 9 months without a leak I consider it a success. It's really a shame too because the chaps that attach to them are generally quite high quality and are still usually "like new" when the boot gives out.

Lots of 5-10 year chaps attached to 5-10 month boots.....

Anymore I just consider it a Coonhunter Tax that I am going to have to pay for new froglegs every year.
