I see no real talent !!

And it ain't hard to train one to babble , hit the openings , and get deep looking for a hot kitten up a bush. But you just haul them to hunts and they will win. Real talent was a dog that got struck honest , took the track away from the pack , and had the coon treed with time to spare before the pack got there or split and held pressure when the other dogs missed. Sad to say most are breeding to the first kind of dog stated !

Tar, There’s a dog up there in Oklahoma like the first one u speak of an has a very humble owner that dosent blow his dog up. Did exactly as u say in yalls legacy series hunt up there. I believe Mr Cummings was the guide an judge on the cast an can attest to it. People fall for too much hype and look at titles an money won instead of actually watching a dog preform before breeding.

Well and even at that they tree a coon then take a minus and give it back doing stuff I would not except at that level. I think they are in hunts more than at home and a lot is good handling. I just don't remember those 3 hr dogs making all those mistakes. I came up with some familiar names you will know cowboy waltrup, Wayne Haines , John wade, Eddie Richardson, Sam Estep , Ed keonitzer all before I left Alvin tx. They prepared a dog to win and not make mistakes I paid attention what they taught me.

The one I’m talkin bout is a cold nosed track driver that treed coon behind, in the middle of, an past the other dogs an can’t be bought but should be bred to a lot more imo.

Tar, Cowboy passed away around this time last year, Ed is our barber, Wayne lives down in Victoria.

Why do you keep beating a dead horse? Do you realize that just about every post you make had the same theme, yesterday dogs vs today's dogs ! What do you expect to achieve with this theory? Hello, most of us got the point you keep making umpteen posts ago. Us old timers are to old to make any real difference in the woods or breeding pen, it is what it is. If these hunters of today are satisfied with the type of dogs you describe, what real difference does it make? There are still hunters today that have what you want, but they are pleasure hunters that demand the best. The glory days of yesterday are gone for the most part and the dogs winning Big money and major hunts are geared to today's standards. If today's dogs are so bad, you should have no problem training and hunting your old blood and cleaning house at these hunts, go get them. Dave

Tar I have no complaints with the dogs I'm hunting now. My biggest concern is with their handler. If I could back his odometer up about 45 years I'd be glad to coon hunt with a cocker spaniel.

Doesn't bother me at all, it just funny that you just change titles and the subject stays the same. You should not have any problems winning against all these misfits people are hunting today. I wish you well and I know you will be winning now that you have a new light and your old stock dogs hunted up. Shucks, I am rooting for you, if Mr, Lambert can do it I know a man of your talent won't have any problems. Dave

You done real good, I am proud of you! No I have titled one in the last 2 years, been about 3 years ago. Shucks with your dog power 500.00 would just be a good investment, you know the digs you would be hunting against are just counterfeits, babbles, hot nose ambush dogs. Surely, you could get a backer to support you, someone that knows you well. Dave

How many dogs did you compete against in total getting those 3 first place wins? I believe you posted a total of 2 three dog casts and 1 four dog cast. I can see why you are bragging, that's impressive. You may just have the next World Champion , as you been saying not much competition anymore. Bunch of babblers, slick treers , hot nose ambush dogs , with your talent and dog power you should go all the way. I know some of your friends would back you knowing your chances of winning is almost certain against these modern day dogs these guys are hunting. Dave

You do know that Tar is also, an expert on rabbits, we may just get us a dose of rabbit stew, you know he cooks. Tar is a man of many talents and he has a new light, life is good. Too bad none of our dogs are worth a plug dime these days, why a man with a real coondog could clean house or some would say so. Lol. Dave

Just for the record, I have been fortunate over the last 10 years or so to have owned and hunted 2 of the best coondog I have seen or hunted with and my buddy owns 1 that's just as good. All these dogs are Champions on paper and in the woods. I am getting to the age that I don't enjoy climbing these mountains as much, but if I continue to coon hunt I will own the type of dog I enjoy, there are still dogs like that around. I can and do buy what suits me and I am hard to please. I don't waste time on junk and I am fortunate enough to be able to buy what I want. Everyone around here knows what kind of dogs I have owned and hunted. No brag just facts, and yes I am NOT a trainer, but I am a hunted. I worked for a living and God has blessed me with more than I deserve, so buying a top dog is not a problem for me. I never hunted for money, did not need to, hunting was and is just a hobby. Dogs and horses cost me a small fortune, but my wife and I enjoy them or we would not spend the kind of money we spend on them. Dave

I bought a younger dog 3 years ago that has a UKC first place win, a decent dog. I have never put him in a hunt although he is the winning type. He is clean tight mouthed and good accurate tree dog , since he suited me and would not be for sale or bred , I saw absolutely no need in finishing him to Champion. He is nothing special and Grand Nights are a dime a dozen around these parts. I just pleasure hunt him, he does not know he isn't titled, I don't think he would care. He just likes good food and treeing cooks. I have won my fair share of hunts over the years, especially when I was younger and liked to brag on my dogs. I am older and dumber now, no need to brag, folks around here know I hunt good dogs. I usually keep my dogs until they die, however this past year I gave away 2 decent coondogs . The man from North Carolina contacted me recently to thank me and tell me how much fun him and his kids had hunting Rattler this past winter. Now that meant more to me than any amount of money could ever mean. You see, I don't need or have to prove anything to anyone but myself, but I am a hard man to please. Lol. Dave P.S. I meant treeing coons not cooks above.
