I have looked into a similar question and I believe I have found out that the .jnx file that Basecamp creates is specific for each garmin unit. I have not tried putting my alpha .jnx files on the drivetrack to see the result, but I would expect the unit to reject the file.
I have also read that after your subscription is up for Birdseye, any Birdseye tiles that you have downloaded to Basecamp cannot be reuploaded to the garmin device. So if you are like me and have too many Birdseye tiles for them all to fit on the device, you need to be able to constantly switch out the tiles that you want to use. This will be a problem after the subscription is expired.
At this point I believe there is a work around. You need to upload your tiles to the device and then move the .jnx files to a folder on your desktop. This folder will be specific for the device. Then in the future instead of uploading your tiles from Basecamp to your device, you upload the files from the folder on your desktop to the device.
If anyone is interested in a more detailed step by step please PM me and I will see what I can do.
