Pens

I got 4 4x8 12 gauge chain link pens bottom rails are rusted out and 2 of my dogs keep busting the up the fence pushing on it trying to get out. Looking to re build them out of something stronger I was thinking 8 to 10 gauge welded that is welded to the rails and powder coated to prevent rust any idea where to get the welded wire that heavy? Or any one else have the same problem and fix it another way thanks.

We use the combination hog panels. The bottom foot has smaller spacings then it goes to the 4x4 opening. Stay away from tractor supply welded wire kennels nothing but junk in my opinion.

Horse panels

I use the 2"x 4" horse panels.16' long. they are 5 ft tall and about the same gauge metal as hog panels... haven't had any climb out but the post holding them must be solid and straight up
do not know if they are available in your area or not -- they cost around $45 here at Bluestem Farm and Ranch

Cattle fencing

I have a climber, so built my latest pen about out of 4' cattle fencing two courses high with about a foot overlap so it stands about 7' tall. I had to take 2 pieces of 2x4 about 2 feet long and string cattle fencing across that and angle them into the pen over the gate because she'd climb the chain link gate to get out over that part. It's not pretty, it actually looks kinda like a prison, but after all the parts including treated posts, screws, hammer in staples, concrete, and gate I only had about $300 into a 20' x 30' hound pen. I keep 2 in there, but could put my other 2 in there if I need to.

Go to Home Depot by 10 ft sticks of galvanized 1.5 inch or 2 inch emt and replace bottom rails and I filled mine with undercoating and then put bedliner on the outside , and then bedline the outside of all kennels and you won't have any issues for quite a few years Most those pens today are junk but you make them like that you won't have any issues for awhile

Or if you want to pay the price a few years ago someone on the west side of Michigan was selling stainless steel panels which should last yours and mine lifetime.
