Help ? fear of other dogs.

I have a blue pup that is 7 1/2 months old. When he was 3-4 months old a 14 month walker in the lot with him ate him up over food. This pup is now about 70lbs but even a little growl or face bark by any dog will make him leave his food or worse get off the tree.

So how can I fix this?

The only thing I see happening as of right now is him being a pleasure dog as a pack of 1.

Will he grow out of it? maybe find confidence after fighting coon?

This could effect me being able to use experienced dogs to train him.

Its quiet depressing to think this beautiful smart hound is like this.

One way to fix it is to not hunt a pup with a dog the growls or face barks. That's why I get mine to treeing coons alone before hunting with another dog.

dog

He's young. I would try to socialize him as much as you can around other dogs in non-hunting settings. Gradually increase how long he is around those dogs. Might be more important than some realize. He is a puppy, would he play with another dog at home? Just get him used to other dogs as much as possible with no hunting related stresses. Keep him in his own kennel. Preferably next to another dog. I would hunt him alone for awhile. When he becomes a consistent coon treer, hunt him with other dogs. He will probably come around. Just my opinion someone is bound to have a better answer. Lol.

Got a nice female now that would follow you like a house dog around strang dogs. Was a coon treeing machine by herself. She finally came out of it and wants to pack a little too much now.

He is not afraid to be around dogs until that one growls even a tiny bit. I have never hunted a pup alone.

Timid Blue Pup

The pup will grow out of it with a little age...and by the time he is 3 years old that Blue pup will probably be cleaning the tree...( when he gets there ) …
