First Black coon

I have killed some Cinnamin colored coon before over the years and some dark brown, silver and light colored coon but always wanted to get a black one to tan for the gun room. The last two nights my young Chunk dog has treed me nine coon, and last night out of the four big coon he treed me a big ole bob tailed boar and my first black coon. Both over 20 lbs.

That's a nice one. We have one woods that will have a black one like that every couple of years or so. Thought maybe it was the minerals in the ground or something.

Killed a couple here in Ohio. Was real surprised by both. Fur buyer called them Fisher Coon. Not sure about the name he gave them. Has anyone else heard the black ones called that?

Yes DFred and Dave now that you mention it I did hear a fur buyer call them that one time. It's cause they look dark like a Fisher Cat.

Here's a pic of a black I took last season, I was walking in from a split tree and from the time I seen my buddy standing there at Rex's tree he was informing me that Rex had treed a black cat, I thought otherwise and the ruger determined I was right lol.

Ive personally never killed a black one but my father has killed quite a few over the years. I would say black coons are alot more common up here then the cinnamon coons

Black coon

I have been real lucky over the years and shot several of them. I just shot a black one recently. I shot quite a few in a spot I use to hunt. We called them Black silvers because the had silver mask and some silver on their face and silver rings on their tales.+
