Conrad years ago I was hunting a dog named Yadkin River Rebel and had two others along that wanted to see him go. This dog had outstanding speed and was one of the most honest dogs I've ever walked behind. Of all places Rebel struck on a ridge and was running a fast race. Made a big loop and was headed back toward us. Rebel ran with a squall and I knew he was running to catch. The two men were laughing a poking each other knowing this was a deer race. Rebel hit a big open field and I was getting concerned. Right in the middle of the field he let out a dying locate and came down hard. On the way we shined ahead and nothing there but a telephone pole with crossarms. The two men were outright laughing and talking smack. The laughing shut up when I showed them a big boar coon laying between the crossarms. I showed it to them so close they took turns carrying it back to the truck.
