Reproduction Percentage

Is there a list that tells the percentage of dogs like Nailor, Lipper, Sackett Jr, and so on. Or do they fall off at a certain age? Who has the best reproduction percentage since it has been kept up with, is what I'm trying to figure out

That all depends on who you ask. Everyone seems to have their own list.

Ukc reproducer list is inaccurate and I feel has been bad for our hounds. Let me give example. Zeb 3 produced 4 wld hunt winners. Now think about that. A bunch of super stakes winners and I do not know how many pro hunt winners. I know this year last I checked 3 off him won prohunts and one grand pup to him won a prohunt. So what hound has ever produced big hunt winners like he did? He did not produce as high as percentage of tree dogs, which is all I need to win at local levels in any registry. I would say the ukc reproducer list would be a more accurate way to gauge what hound produces dogs that are easy for the overall public to train. I'm just saying ask yourself this question? If you were looking for a stud that produced traits you needed for a Wld class hound would you base it totally on the ukc reproducers list? I just looked at it and Z3 is not on there. So are those dogs better reproducers than him? Now everyone has an opinion but I don't put much faith in ukc reproducer list.

Its not inaccurate its a representation of UKC titles won by dogs, but I do understand what your saying. The most accurate way would be for cast wins to be tracked. Even in PKC they use pups winnings. That's really inaccurate, one pup could have won all of it and the rest were duds. It would be really nice to be able to track a dogs offspring's cast wins in both registry.

I'm not saying other registries way is right either. I'm just saying people breeding for a better pup not a better hound. Average age for a wld ch is about 6 years old. I could care less if my pup is treeing at 6 months old. I will give a hypothetical scenario. Let's say I got 2 pups at my house 9 months old. The first will hunt a little by itself I have to walk it but it's been treeing coon for 3 months. It's makes 2-3 trees a night and usually has a coon in one of them. It goes with older dogs spits some and backs some. It's safe to say I could win with it now but not a wld hunt. Other pup is wild. Cut loose it will run anything that runs from it. Has no reverse. Don't care what older dogs are doing. Finally made a tree 3 hunts ago and had the coon. Keeps me out several hours rounding it when I'm ready to go. Safe to say it's more of a wild running dog that will tree. Which one of these pups are more likely to have a basic title on it in 3 months? Which is more likely to win the wld in 4-5 years?

I respect your opinion. And I do to. But here is a fact. A big huge prize was put up the last 4 wld hunts $kc has had. Hundreds of hounds showed up each year to claim it. Yes, although you can buy back in, at some point you have to win 6 cast in a row and they keep getting harder and harder. Because that is hard. Winning 3 over a 8 year period is not. The last 4 3 have been won off hounds off z3. The other was sired by his half brother HellBilly. So last 4 wld champs have had the same grandsire that was nothing more than a deer dog that a deer hunter would have culled because they keeped falling out of the deer race to tree a coon. Some will understand me some want.lol. So I guess it's about what you want. I'm not knocking ukc I hate seeing the decline in all the # in both registries. And I also started out in ukc, but breeding for wld class and elite compitition coonhounds go far beyond ukc reproducer list.

My point is this. First you must define best reproducer, because people look at it differently.

MORE OFTEN THAN NOT JUST PLAIN GOOD HOUNDS , NOT FANCY BUT GOOD WILL PRODUCE THE OUTSTANDING DOGS , AND SOMETIMES OUTSTANDING DOGS NEVER REPRODUCE MUCH. AND THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS , ALL SPORT DOG BREEDERS , CATTLEMEN , HORSE BREEDERS ETC. EXAMPLE ONE OF MY BROTHER IN LAWS HAS A BROTHER WHO IS PRETTY BIG IN ANGUS BREEDING STOCK HE TOOK A YOUNG BULL TO SOME KIND OF WEIGHT GAIN COMPETITION SPONSORED BY TEXAS A & M HIS BULL WON IT HANDS DOWN WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE , WENT TO HAVE SEMEN COLLECTED BULL WAS STERILE.

Top Reproducers List has hurt the sport. Rat Attack is the perfect example of why % of competition winners a dog throws should play a very small part in the choice of a stud.
