2 dog cast. both dogs struck. 1 dog gets treed, run the 5 min on tree. after the 5 is up walking into the dog that is treed and as ya get close ya hear the other dog there as well. go to them and there in a hole that you can see the coon in the hole. how do ya score the dog not treed in?

I'm going to say minus strike, no different than a dog at a tree where coon is seen, since first dog was declared treed and a coon is seen "treed" in a place of refuge.

Been through this one before; So with that being said to accurately give an answer there needs to be more info because it comes down to splitting hairs. Were the dogs on the leash when coon was seen? Had the shine time been started when the coon was seen? A coon can only be scored during shine time and shine time cannot be started till all dogs are handled. Last question is could the dogs grab the coon if they chose to? If they could grab the coon if they chose then it is considered bayed, but if it is completely out of reach it puts it into the treed category.... After stepping back and rereading the original question " how to score dog not treed in" strike points plussed . sorry.

His strike is plus, you dont have to be treed in to be scored in a hole.

Only one dog has to show end of trail when treed in a hole. Plus strike

You gotta tell us where that hole is. Is it a hole in the tree? Is it a hole in the ground? In a log? Makes all the difference between plus strike or minus.

What if that hole is in the side of the tree 20 feet up? That's plus both ways for dog A and minus strike for dog B.

the hole was in the ground. coon was growling as we got close. pulled the treed dog out of the hole with the leash on him. seen the coon as the other dog jumped into the hole as soon as the treed dog was removed. both dogs leashed i think as the coon came out of the hole an ran away.

I always assume when they simply say hole its in the ground or its a log. If its in a tree its a different matter obviously.
