Thanks Mr. John Carroll
Back just over a year ago I mentioned a dog on here named Wicks Hawk. Dear Friend Mr. Roy owned him and I got several pups off him over the years. They made pretty fair dogs for me and I had a soft spot in my heart for Hawk. I saw him operate in several states including FL, KY, and Ga. He was a decent dog and became one of my favorites probably because of the handle he had along with his ability,
Anyway, not sure how the conversation started with Mr. Carroll but either on the board or through PM he said he had an older female that went back to Hawk on the Dams side. The he said, him and a friend was fixing to breed her to Bone Collector. I asked him who the Sire of his female was and he said Tequila Sunrise. I told him I would like a pup and the deal was done.
This pup has exceeded expectations in every way. Because of hunting conditions and some health conditions I didn't do much with him at 5 or 6 months old. Just let him run some in a fenced lot and played a lot with him. Well before you know it he is 9 or 10 months old and has no woods experience so I figured it was time. I showed him one caged coon and he responded to it very well. I then waited about a month and showed him another one with the same results and figured that was enough caged coon. Time to go hunting. Well he was 1 year old a couple weeks ago and I have taken him twice this week. Results have been more than I expected. Last night was his second night in the woods and him and another young dog were turned loose together and they hunted a couple hundred yards around us. Then they got struck and had a tuff track for a few hundred yards and then came treed at 500 yards with the coon. They were in a cypress pond that had been cut and it is nothing but cypress stumps, cypress knees and cypress limbs in about a foot or two of water. A real mess. They left one sorry looking tree in that mess and they had the coon in it. The bawl mouth pup is some of my back yard breeding and the chop mouth pup is the Hawk.
Mr. Carroll thanks for sending me this pup and it has been a joy raising him and watching him progress. I have my fingers crossed and wonder when he will stretch out his long legs on his first deer. LOL
