rule ?

back of score card #16 misconduct (f) relaying any type of electronic messaging with reference to scores, that is deemed detrimental to the hunt.
i read this as cast member typing on cell phone during hunting time should be scratched ! i should not have to ask him what he was typeing surely he will delete it befor he shows me

what is your thoughts on this rule ?

Rule says relaying info "with reference to scores". If there is no "reference to scores", then you can text all you want. That is UKC's ruling.

It's got to be proven. My thoughts is phones should be in your **** truck and judge can carry his in pocket in case of emergency. If you can't hunt without piddling on your phone, or even staring at your Garmin, your not much of a hunter.

Most youngsters can do just about anything and text at the same time. I don't understand why older guys get mad when they see youngsters texting. And if they are not paying attention to their dog then it will only help you. And staring at your Garmin is hunting. You can tell a lot more from looking at your Garmin than you can looking at or talking to your fellow hunters.

I was on a hunt once and kept getting calls. I finally answered and come to find out someone had my dog. Another boy was hunting another dog for me and only had a collar and no receiver. I had to answer.

Matt, now texting is hunting. I pleasure hunt in Tn and just turn one dog loose but I am really "text hunting" with 3 or 4 guys and dogs in 2 or 3 different states. I get pictures of their Garmins and pictures and videos of their dogs treeing. We even have a group text with the Va Cartel so that everyone hunt texts together. I also get play by plays of local hunts in different states. This is real cool if someone is hunting your dog. I am afraid that it is a new world now and it is much smaller.

No , when your texting and not paying attention you miss something, then wanna bitch thinking you have been screwed. If you can't call your dog without a Garmin, then you need to hunt alot more and prepare! I wasn't mad, your assuming again!

Some that "aren't much of a hunter", like me, look at their Garmin all night. Some that are real hard core hunters look at their Garmins all night. Some that "aren't much of a hunter" don't look at their Garmin all of the time. Some hard core hunters don't look at their Garmin. So really I don't see the correlation between looking at your Garmin and how hard of a hunter you are.

The two best coonhunters I know both have them but won't carry one or look at one. But they will ask you where the dogs are if the can't hear them and always have someones collar on their dog before they cut it.
I also hunt with a lot of young fellas that have never turned a dog loose without one. Some have never hunted without the Birdseye. And those are the ones that would never cut a dog without it and prolly wouldn't enter a hunt if they couldn't look at their Garmin.
Kinda interesting how the different generations look at them.
They're here, they aint going away and they are as much a part of the sport today as the dog is.

I think you like to argue. Wait till your on a cast and someone gets mad because your cheating them because they wasn't paying attention . That's what I'm saying. So you need to get off my back jack. I don't know you nor do I care to. If you don't like my opinion, don't read it or block me. It's pretty simple. You have timeouts to look at garmin and text whoever.

I agree you should not be able to look at your Garmin except for when timeout is called. But why do you care if someone is texting? If they are texting that is there problem not yours. Seem to get a little too worked up about it, in today age a cell phone is part of life. I don't think they should be on it constantly by no means, but a text or two that is non-hunt related is literally no problem at all.

The reason texting or any use of the phone during a cast should be banned is because it opens all sorts of illegal shenaninguns between the the handler and the one or two "spectators" sitting back at the truck. Garmins are one thing but using phones during the hunt opens the door to unlimited ways of cheating. Anyone who cannot leave their phone off for two lousy hours should have never left the house in the first place.

.

Guys i think were finding all the bad things about the garmin and not looking at all the good thing .these garmims saves us a ton of hunt time and alot of time win time out is called far as getting back to the truck finding ur dog before the hour is up ect ect.and also look how many times it has saved our dog lives by catching them before they get in the road .if we take away the garmin i bet u will see alot more people not making it back to the club befor the dead line

I never missed deadline before Garmin. If you have to use technology while hunting, go pleasure hunt. I hunted these hunts 20 years before alot of people commenting, it is possible not to use the gadgets .lol

old timers or new comers u may as well deal with it an except the fact that the garmins are being used an will continue to be used in the hunts now days. Everything in life does not stay the same just because some old man or woman done it that way when they was a kid or so forth. Now we can deal with it or we can quit its just that simple. An as far as a cell phone no I'm not for someone sitting their on it all night during a hunt but as far as them having it with them yes I'm all for it. Their is many situations to where it could be helpful such as getting someone to come around an pick u up after u have walked a mile an came out on a rd. Or a emergency happens at home with your family. So for someone to say if u cant leave home for a couple measily hrs without your phone that u should stay home is just disrespectful to the sport. We had 2 guys at the state hunt that had went out on a cast this year an their father had a major turn an passed away. Now if them guys didn't have their cell phone then they would not of known until they got home in the wee hrs of the morning. THANGS HAPPEN. No matter what rules are or aren't maid u want stop a cheater. U have no control of a person in their vehicle between drops so how u know if they text or called an talked about the hunt or not? People look for the smallest thangs to get rid of people
