The only people that have them are the ones that will put up with them.

Didn't say i liked it lol ! But except for the occasional tinkering in recent years in the hunts I didn't realize it was as strong as it is even in other breeds.

wood monsters

Guy I hunt with a lot just picked one up for a project. He was told the dog was 50% accurate. Not here he ain't. Not even close. Only hunted him about 4 times so far still trying to figure out what makes him tick. After a couple nights he turned a coon loose in front of him to make sure he can tree one. He did and did it well. Except for the one he turned loose he's 1-14 last time I checked. He's gonna have to get hot to get back to 50%.

What I've learned is if someone tells you there 95% there probably about 50%. If you hunt a dog all year hard with dogs and pressure put on them if they can stay 50% coon seen there very accurate. 70-80 is world class. So trust me if your having to drive to pup up a dog 70-80 present dog don't get your hopes up. Someone in the area would have bought them.

Did y'all see those National scores? Five inces of snow, non-hunting judges and still every cast had plus points. Tarbaby how did your big weekend go? Didn't y'all go to Ada this weekend?

At our age that is what counts. Maybe that is what it takes to get more entries. Just make sure everyone has a good time.

This post reinforces why I'm hesitant to comp hunt. I have a 2 year old that's as close to 100 percent by herself as any dog I've ever seen. Nothing better than walking to the tree and being sure you'll see eyes or a den. So why hunt her with dogs that can ruin a young dog that does nothing wrong just to put a title on her?

Why would hunting her with a slick treeing dog ruin your gyp? If she stays to herself and is looking for her coon why would she be influenced by others?

I like to hunt mine with slick treers junk runners backing idiots tight tree dogs etc. I strongly believe once I get one going on and treeing Coons under those circumstances I am ready to win.

I have never thought another dog made my dog do something. They are an individual animal. It is up to me to train them to make the right decisions when the circumstances call for it.

They are not all like that you can't avoid things if you want to fix a dog put them with other dogs that do things so you can fix it.

Most of my post are kinda giving people a chance to say how to fix problems. That helps everybody that reads it. For instance this dog when hunted alone is a pretty enjoyable dog but he gets to competitive with others wanting to be first on bad tracks and he is coming up short he don't miss them all but enough to send you to the truck early.

Tar the 1/14 I'm talking about is alone lol. I'm told he's worse in company. We just watched him a couple nights now it's time for affirmative action lol. It's funny cause I have seen this kind before but it's usually pretty easy to see they're a poor track dog and end up slick because of it. This dog can blister a track but it's hard to tell how hot or cold they are cause he barks so much. He does take correction good and can be sent off those trees and he'll continue on. After the third tree the other night tho I told my buddy send him on again if he wanted to but I'm calling a cab lol. This is a two month experiment it'll get better quick or it won't.

I feel for you Donnie. I have only had a hand full of dogs that I kept and hunted over the years. They taught a good lesson. I've never had one that I liked that I had to talk them into doing their job. They just did it.

Oh this ain't my problem I'm just observing lol. My buddy took the dog to see if he could get better with proper handling. Conditions are bad here too it's been thawed and froze so many times it's like huntin on a glacier with trees growing up thru it. If nothin else I'm gonna use it to teach my young dog that nothin good can come from listening to another dog barking.

I believe some of your buddies is rubbing honey buns on trees just to get your dog treeing up them. You just going to have to break him off honey bun scent. No more honey buns for you or your dog. Lol. Dave. P. S, Carson may have put them up to that trick, you know how big daddy is.lol.
