Tide Water Bloodline?

I remember seeing these dog in the magazine but can’t remember ever hunting with one, I have this female here to be bred this week, like to know a little about this blood? only have PKC papers is why some say Unknown?

They were all Black and White like the Clover Dogs at lest Shep was and I think they went back to Tree Pickin Bill which was a Top Coon Hound.. by looking at that paper its hard to believe that could look like that. Not impossible but some one had to know what then were doing to have a dog like that that's alive, First thing I've seen on here that Impressed me!!!!

You should bred her for a few pups, that dog hasn't been messed up by modern day breeders. I would like to hunt with a dog like that and see what kind of nose she has.. I know she is not off a bunch of slick treeing dogs.....

The owner is just a pleasure hunter, talked to 2 people and they say she is really nice, she is still on UKC pup papers, there is a D at end of her UKC number, I think that means Duplicate???

I don't know the exact dates but here is how you would have to do it to get a dog like that. Shep would have had to have been breed when he was 10 or 12 to a 9 or 10 year old female, then kept some around for 10 or 12 years and make another cross at around that age again, that would make it about 24 years after Shep died, and that dog is 3 years old, that would be right. Shep, I think has been dead for 30 years. Jim Powers is a very knowledgeable breeder and could have done that. Otherwise I would question them papers because a average coonhunter wouldn't be smart enough to have done that!!!!! HEHEHEH!!LOL!!!

I'm pretty sure the tidewater walkers are just Finley river with James powers of Virginia kennel name he has had the same line of hounds my whole life and I'm 40 he is a cool guy in my opinion he doesn't care what you think about him or his dogs and isn't afraid to let you Know it, the last time I hunted against him he was over 60 and ran through the night woods like a 18 year old won his cast I think it was tank I hunted with I think if you look back far enough on papres some more famous Finley river dogs came from his yard

Talked to James Powers today for 45 min, he is 80 years old and been breeding this line for 54 years, said he remembers making this cross and Tidewater Sheps Trace is still alive an has 43 pups on the ground, yes they go back to John Monroe and Finley River, he also said there was Never a black an White dog from his breeding that he could remember, all tri color with a dark red head, said Tidewater blood is known for there nose an track power, said he was excited to see this out cross, I am honored and excited to get a chance to breed this female.

My first pup off of TIN Man was off a tidewater bred bitch, they are known track dogs, honest tree dogs, that are accurate. From what I saw this is spot on. My pups mom was reddish black headed blanket back leggy female with no ticks. Good luck with your cross Tim.

Like I said you better hang on to some of them to put some track power back in your dogs! HEHEHEHE!!!! The ones I seen that was LONE PINE that had that breeding in them had ticks!

I met Mr powers a few year ago I bought male pup from him he is open spotted and 80 LBS and just turned 2 YRS old I have coon hunted for 30 Yrs he is the best track dog I have owned and accurate. Jim has been very honest with me and always willing to help me with any questions I had I'm proud to call him a friend.

I have hunted with a bunch of these dogs and I know James and several other guys that hunt tidewater bred hounds personally.

They are bred to be track dogs meaning they can run an old track. They are typically smaller stocky dogs and like James told you they all have good color. I have never seen one that had black on their heads.

The ones I have hunted with have been accurate but have been slow for my liking. Some of the outcrosses have "blueticked" around a little much BUT they could strike tracks that other dogs acted like they couldn't smell and move it along. They don't mind a pack.

Crossing them on money will help them where they are weak but keep the track driving speed. It will be a good cross.

I was referring to the dogs in your signature Tim. I'm assuming that you have some stores on all of them. But none might be for sale?

None for sale, Lot of great memories on Bean an Tj’s Lipper. I bought Hardwood Bean as a 6 week old pup, I had him cremated and is sitting in my trophy room, I was partners on Tj’s Stylish Lipper. I lucked up on the Bawling Rebel semen, some one didn’t pay the storage and it was gonna be destroyed (rite place at the rite time) I guess, I bought the Paydirt semen from Mike Walts, Hope to use it this fall, I got the Jag Semen from Dan Davis, Thanks for asking.
