Pup Starting age

When do you like starting your pups, and how can I help mine. I got 2, 8 month old pups barking at cage coon, been on one coon released from trap. They will run into my older dog when he runs the track and trees but they not work track or tree. What would be your suggestion?

Um my suggestion is

Just hunt them. Get them in the woods. By themselves. Pups will get into trouble by themselves, you get double the trouble together. So they already know what a Coon is, quit turning them loose on one.

No coons showing them take them and I take them alone where your best chance of getting on a coon , you might walk a lot of nights wothout hearing a bark but when the rite situation comes on they will start and you know what you have not what they are mimicking and some independant pups won't tree with another dog. Kate's sister I started absolutely never would tree with another dog even as a pup and today f there is a dog on the tree with her it backed her so you never know what you have until you hunt them alone , if they strike, junk I let them roll with it and then start introducing good tracks cage coon you release don't show the pup just cut coon wait 10-15 minutes cast pup as usual towards hot track and see what you have , if it's in them and they are ready they will run it good luck ,patience
