I've had one "All Grand Ped" dog she was 5 or 6 gen all grand behind her. She was the best dog i ever started I sold her before she got 2 yrs old (young ans stupid) so i dont know how she turned out. Did i get lucky are do these kind of pups start easier ? Im about to buy another pup and looking at all grand walker thats why im asking.

I would say that the all grand has little to do with how your dog turns out. The degrees earned in hunts do "help" you determine if the puppies background are coon treeing dogs if you dont have first hand knowledge of them. I figure you have a better chance of getting some type of coon treer off of all grand cross then not getting a coon treer. JMO

Pretty sure there's probably more than a few all grands where some of the "grands " were never in a hunt. Lol

Maybe, maybe not. The All Grand paper looks good, but it doesn't guarantee they (the pups) will all turn out.

I'd say you'll have a better chance of getting one that will turn out with an All Grand, than you would with a pup with an All Cull pedigree. But then again there is no guarantee.

Just know going in, it doesn't matter what the papers say they (the pups) all won't turn out. Odds might be better, but not guaranteed.

A lot of the all grand crosses stacked one dog or one cross multiple times to get the all grand pedigree not saying it's good or bad just that's how they got it.

.

I have owned two all grand females (4 generation all grand) and I now own one 3 Generation all grand male.

I feel some corners were cut making the females all grand as they were not close to what I would call coondogs. After several disappointing months with them in the woods. I left them in the woods. I got them to breed to my Blaze dog and as bad as I wanted to. I just could not do it. I believe you get what you breed and I didn't want to breed disappointment.

The all grand male I have is a dog that brings validity to the title. Two years ago before I had to slow down. A young man named Corey and myself struck out with him to some hunts and won close to 9 grand with him. Past two years he has been resting more than hunting but I always dream of turning that around. I think in the 2016 season in another KC he won 9 out of 11 cast locally here in his own backyard. Pulled him out of the pen two weeks ago after sitting for two months and let a man handle him because we needed a fill dog to make a cast. He won with handler that is a pleasure coon hunter and had never won a comp cast. There is no secret to all this, other than having a coon in the tree at the end of the race.

Tar hit the nail on the head about stacking the dogs. I will add. Once a man is on a mission to achieve a title to increase the value of a dog. When it is apparent the dog doesn't have the ability, corners are cut. That is the problem with all grand pedigrees.

One of the local guys around here has accumulated two first place wins on his Nite Champion at our Local Club the last several months, with him being the only Nite Champion at both events, yielding first place wins.

A Couple weeks ago there was another hunt at the club and he was present and planning to hunt. With 10 minutes to go before the deadline he was still the only Nite Champion. He had his entry card filled out and was going to sign up, but two other Nite Champions Showed up to hunt. This guy folded his entry slip up, stuck it in his pocket and went home.

Not a knock against UKC, but I don't put much faith in their Titles.

Nothing to prove? I thought that was the point of competition hunting.
