How to cheat in nite hunts?

If you know the enemy then you know how to take counter measures!
With that being said lets all share how to cheat in a nite hunt that way when we see or hear whats being posted on this post it will be our red flag when we actually hear it or see it in the woods and be pro active to deal with it.

1. If you have to ask "how much time is left on the tree?" because for some reason the judges time is 30 seconds off you might want to ask everyone to compare stop watch timing. In fact had to do this one night. Sure enough the judge was being honest but his timer was going 5 seconds faster in 30 seconds. We found out the brand of stopwatch he had does this when the battery was going dead.

Next, whos next?

.

There is an art to finding coons. Better learn fast how to find them and dont rely on the rest of the cast to find one for you.

Fake coon eyes of years ago... I never was brave enough for that
Moving dog to avoid a minus or found coon close in area
Striking or treeing a dog to gain position you wanted or needed
Not striking or treeing to avoid a negative outcome
Scratching a guy under judges discretion to get one out of way
Buddy system where you see mine and we want see his
Buddy system where we vote our way but minus him
Using a different dog in a hunt
Having guy go in front of you cutting Coons loose
Setting it up so “ landowner “ runs you off before you can score your tree
Light broke dog
Guy using the E collar in the truck

Those are the ones I could think of.

Those are all for the minor league lol !

Plussing bullfrog eyes in a beaver hole from 20 yrds away and the dogs 20 yrds further than that carrying first strike and tree and everybody was happy about it lol.

This actually happened to me

Dogs 1,2,3,4, are all struck in and catch one on the ground. Judge scores the dogs and runs in to grab the coon. Throws it in the bushes and tells everyone to re cast their dogs and immediately strikes his dog back in. I could not believe this and strong words were had. I put a stop to it but the other two handlers and the hunting judge were all in. No biggie it was a RQE I drove 12 hours to go to.

Later on my dog carrying 1st strike trees and I call him. He's locked down. The other dogs start treeing but obviously closer than mine. Go to the tree(s) they say my dog pulled and vote to score their tree first. Get to the tree with 3 dogs and it's slick. They circle it of course. I got voted to -125 for my "dog pulling" Go to his tree he has the meat.

I've never seen them in person but saw pics of them someone got caught using. It was either in the Cooner or CB

Handlers involved said this was not cheating. Only 2 handlers left in cast. Time out was called so handlers drove around and found dogs in a hole with coon visible. They led dogs off 20 yrs and turned them loose. Then they struck and treed them back in the hole and plussed them. Their reasoning was hole had not been previously scored since they were on a time out.

Yes Donnie I remember and also remember who they were blaming. They were hunting a black dog but the owner is a old timer that sells a lot of Finley River stock of dogs in American Cooner.

Fake eyes

We had some thrown up into a tree in the 1994 Statesville NC zones. I helped my father get them down. I shot the limb down with a 22. Couldn't scratch him because we couldn't prove for a fact he actually did it. But we did find out his brother had some of the same things. It was the hair braids with the two marble looking plastic piece s on each end. One brother finally got barred from ukc the other went later on and won the world and still hunts but people say he straightened up.

Throwing a crab apple up in a tree on hillside. Crab apple falls starts rolling over hill. Dogs turn start raising Cain that way as it rolls. Judge judge there he goes

No more will I share lol. Buy the lessons yourself. More fun that way

Cheating happens on a good percentage of the cast during the first minute of the hunt.
