Cheating at Winter Classic

Will there be any coons added after hunt time expires? Will any trees be plussed that a coon is not seen in? Will anyone get scratched or minused just because their dog is leading the cast. Will any casts hunt for 2 hrs and 15 mins?
The best and only way for cheating to be minimized is for all members of the cast to stay until hunt time expires. And then everone should check the posted scores on Mon to see if they are correct for their cast.

So, will all members of a cast agree to stay with the cast until hunt time expires even if they withdraw or are scratched?

Richard

Richard, I drew out with one of your Redbones Thursday at New Years Jamboree, a nice fellow was hunting him, don’t recall his name. The dogs name was Boone. I’m sending this to let you know he has one of the nicest locates I have heard since I drew Trackman. I could listen to that sucker come treed everynight.

Richard I totally agree, if I'm going to travel 800 miles to hunt, whether I'm winning or not I'm going to stay for the entire hunt. If nothing more than to see Hopefully some good dog work or hang out with some good people. I don't care how long it takes me to get back to club grounds.

Richard, is that the same Mellow Yellow I know and am thinking of? Is she even still alive? She was a pretty decent dog when we had her up here.

100% chance cheating will occur.
10% +/- chance it'll be reported.
5% +/- chance anything will be done if it is.
1% +/- chance we'll know about it.

Cheating will only occur in the hunt if it gets dark, lol. Just hope it doesn't affect the outcome of the casts I'm in.

I know a guy that even cheats when he is pleasure hunting.
I guess he has been practicing to be a professional handler.

Cheating, really?

Really? Over the years I've been on lots of casts, but not very many the last couple years. Seen very little cheating that amounted to anything. A few times (maybe 5 times in 30 years) the majority of the cast saw a coon that I didn't. Coon probably stopped looking 2 of the 5, that happens.
I stay with the cast until the hunt is over, review and sign the card, usually return to the club with the card, if not I check posted scores the next day. Never has there been a coon added or card changed.
The majority of the handlers are pretty honest. Once in a while a handler will start to be a little squirrelly, until they realize the rest of us know the rules and aren't green horns.
I expect 95% of this talk of cheating is a bunch of bologna. 5% includes the 2017 World hunt that was real.
The bologna on here is bad for our sport, It will turn good people away that are considering going to the hunts.

Darren is right. One person cheats out of 240 and there is an uproar. If it was all that commonplace there wouldn't be such a big deal made of it. There were about 700 dogs/handlers competing in the World Hunt and one of them tried to cheat and he was caught and dealt with. Since we don't live in a perfect world, that is pretty good odds. Young people or ones new to the sport need to realize that coonhunting is just like everything else in life. There are cheaters and there are liars. You just have to be aware of them and deal with them. Or you could just stay home and not ever go out. Maybe no one cheats at video games. I know some people that cheat when they play solitaire.

I agree 100%. If you are constantly on bads casts, then the problem is you because you aren't putting it to a stop. Good post.
