She will just be the first of many good females bred to woody.
I predict that once Doug gives him the green light after the Pkc world hunt....Woody will be the most bred to redbone over the next year. He possesses much of what this breed needs to raise its standing in the competition world and he is a dog that even pleasure hunters would love!
Cold nosed, quick strike, takes his tracks as he comes to them....works them out and will stay treed all night and have a coon when you get there in the morning. I had other plans for breeding B.J. but I try to keep an open mind and after hunting Woody for only a week and seeing him under over 30 coon....I changed my plans and decided to Breed her to Woody. I have been contacted by many other people who also want to Breed to him as soon as their females come in. He will make an impact on this breed and it will be a great one.....shane

Woody ended up in 8th place overall at the ACHA world Championship.
He looked outstanding going through each round of the hunt and believe me....he impressed a lot of people at that hunt. I only had a week and a half to get to know Woody....but I made the most of that time and we were in the woods all but two nights that I let him rest. In a total of 11 nights of hunting since I picked him up from Doug he has treed 44 times and showed me 40 real live raccoons. Think about that.....
Woody is a very special dog in many ways. We are going to rest up a few days and then head North to Wisconsin and Minnesota for a week of experience up there and then after a couple more days of rest we will head down to the Pkc world Championship and see if he can triple up on his world Championship top twenty placements

shane that doesnt susprise me on woody having that many coons doug is not going to walk to a dog much and look at a empty tree, i have called doug on some bad winter nts and he would be out in the woods with woody

Im the same way....I hunt too many nights a year to walk to a bunch of slick trees. If a dog isn't accurate....it wont stay at my place very long.
Woody is about as accurate (realistically) as a coon dog gets in my opinion.
Most of the dogs I have seen over the years that approached his accuracy were straight line, hot nosed ambush dogs who pretty much hunt until they run right up on a coon and push him up a tree...usually a small one.
Woody is a different type of animal. He has as much nose as anything I have hunted....and the brains to use that nose to actually trail the coon no matter how hot or cold the track is or what the terrain is and still end up with a real live raccoon at the end of it almost every time. That is rare for a cold nosed dog. If Woody can reproduce this ability....he could really help this breed dominate in competition circles.

Yes woody has been collected twice at Nevergone and has about ten breedings in storage and we may get a few more store while he is up here.
