Anyone use the 430 to track the Alpha? If so, how do you do it? According to the garmin 2.50 to 2.70 update, contacts are in the tools. I can't seem to find it. I updated from 2.0 straight to 3.0 so i don't know if that would have something to do with it or not.

When I get to the store and get my hands on a 430 I will step you through the process if someone else hasn't responded by them.

select menu then menu again and it should take you to the main menu page. scroll down to tools and then you with have a new menu on page. scroll down to contacts and follow instructions.

Bruce do you know of anything other than handheld to handheld for tracking a handheld ?? That does not interfere with normal operations!

I had mine slip out of vest, does not happen often. I was able to find it, but in case one could not find it for whatever reason. Is there any kind of mobile app that you know of or anything that can be attached to handheld (without interference) and tracked by something else!?! Mind you i do not have a "smart phone" so the mobile app is out of ? haha Is there a onStar app for these things?? lmbo

Thanks for the response but it's still not there. I've been through this several times and figured maybe I needed to download the 3.0 version again? Here is what my 430 does:

Initial start up: compass page with dogs listed

Menu: Pause all tracking, Running pointers on, Dog list, Big numbers, Calibrate compass

Menu: (I have organized these selections by my liking) Start new hunt, Track manager, Dog list, Setup, Stopwatch, Tools

Tools: Find, Trip computer, Elevation plot, Proximity alarms, Share wireslessly, Waypoint manager, Route planner, Profile change, Hunt and fish, Sun and moon, Waypoint avg, Sight 'n go, Area calculation, Calculator, Calendar, Alarm clock, Geocaches, Man overboard, Satellite, Virb remote, Hunt metrics, Active route, Compass

I still don't see the Contacts anywhere. Maybe I've turned something off and it doesn't show?

Some of my friends have 430's, I have the Alpha. I'd like to know.

Can the 430 track an Alpha?

Can Alpha track the 430?

It's my understanding that the 430 can track the Alpha. The Alpha can't track the 430 because it doesn't transmit a signal. I haven't accomplished the first yet so I'm not 100% positive.

Lets start over- If you have 3.0 software you have the program. You can find that out by going to SETUP and then from that list you will find ABOUT. Should be last thing on list. That will tell you the software you have downloaded.

If you don't have 3.0 then that is the problem.

When you updated to 3.0 it should have added CONTACTS to the menu list right below VIRB.

If you have 3.0 you can go to setup and from there go to reset and it might bring your menu back. I know you can change the menu order but didn't think you could delete the menu items in a 430. I know you could in older ones and then bring them back.

The 430 can track the ALPHA. The ALPHA cannot track a 430.

Reset did the trick. I knew I had version 3.0 and something just wasn't right. I did start tracking the Alpha. No, the alpha can't track the 430 or send it messages.

Yes, I have changed the menu order just like the 320. Add/remove as you wish. Something I did there must have made the 'contacts' disappear?
