My 3 year old female has started to develope hot spots and thinning hair and dry skin. This wasnt an issue untill recent. She did have a first litter of pups about 14 weeks ago. Changed bedding to wood chips but did not help. I went to weat straw yesterday. I diid have some straw l did not like in there a month or so ago. It seemed very dusty. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Ron Jackson

I had a similar situation this past summer, I used Nu Stock, available at farm stores, it took about three tubes. I understand white vinegar mixed 50/50 with tap water will work as well.

I will agree with Nu Stock. It works.
I had a male that this happened to. On both sides in the rib area his hair thinned and became dry. I had him seen by a vet because this is one classic sign of a Thyroid problem along with thinning hair on the tail. His Thyroid was fine. So I took him home and used Nu Stock.

Put some vegetable oil on it. Hair will grow back in about 2 weeks.

I had a dog do this took him to vet was told it’s allergies they give me a prescription cleared it right up vet said they could test to see what was causing the allergy but it was probably something I couldn’t control the medicine wasn’t expensive it’s worse for mine in warm weather I’ve switched to two Benadryl a day and it works in cooler weather

i have a french bulldog that ive paid for my vets vacation house trying to figure out something that works for his hotspots. ive had all kinds of testing done and paid for $60-$300 creams and ointments, all to hear "hes just got sensitive skin"... anyway, the only thing ive found that works for him, is washing him regularly with Selson Blue medicated shampoo and occasionally switching to TGel Medicated shampoo, and if an irritation or hot spot pops up clean with alcohol and treat with peptobismol. (yes i know it sounds crazy- but it works).

My wife’s dog started to lose hair at about 3 years and also developed scaly skin. Turned out he was allergic to fleas...

I would try some grain free dog feed and see if it made a difference
also give cod liver oil over the dog's feed each day
