Attn Michigan Clubs

The Michigan State Coon Hunters Association is in the beginning stages of Instituting a Michigan State Coon Hunters Hall of Fame. If u have any questions please call or txt me. Would like to hear from all club reps to finalize guidelines. This is long over due so lets get this going and give recognition to those that deserve it.

Thank You

Curious of the qualifications, what it takes to become a Hall of Famer.

Todd that is what still needs to be worked out. I have some input from a couple of states that have a program. I would like to get together with club reps to come up with the critioria.

Couple thoughts come to mind.

1. World Hunt Accomplishments 3 that I know in Michigan.

2. Documented years of Coon Hunting.

HOF

Number 2 for sure, maybe #1 considered, however it should be more what they have done for the coon hunting world or to promote coon hunting. This could be someone who has never won anything small or big, however he/she was there to promote coonhunting and or the hunts in Michigan.

#1 "could be" someone who has bought a finished dog and put him in the hunts and was fortunate to have won, would not neccessarily prove that he promoted the sport.

This is why need club reps to come up with strict guidelines to nominate.

Also I have been thinking of having 4 types of catagories, Coon hunter HOF and Honorable mention, Coon Hound HOF and Honorable mention. All of which are from Michigan.

Tony Beals

Some one should definitely nominate Tony. He sure is good with promoting the sport of coonhunting in Michigan. He is usually the first one or only one to respond to an out of state hunters inquiry about hunting in michigan. He offers to take them hunting with him, hows that gor being a good sportsman. Many hunters are just to selfish to consider taking an out of state hunter to their hunting spots. I do not live in Michigan, but if I did I would vote for Tony Beals. Thank you Tony for being the good sportsman and promoter of our coonhunting passion. Dave

this is a wonderful idea Tony I will be keeping my eyes open regarding this topic. there is without a doubt a large number of people who are native to Michigan that deserve accolades for not just there accomplishments but contributions to the sport we all love. I personally believe that the truest measure of a coonhunter has nothing to do with what they have won but how much they have done to promote the sport especially when it comes to getting the youth involved because without them the sport will die. in my opinion there should be two catagories

1. houndsman hall of fame, this is your promoter the man or woman who lives there life by a higher standard, promotes our sport and its youth to an extraordinary level.

2. performance hall of fame this is the category for your world winners, top breeders, people or hounds that have earned there way into elite company.
