What one to keep ??

I have 3 dogs .. ..one female 6yrs old will get gone and hunt hard but won't tree solo.....have a 9month old female never messed with much .....and have a 3yr old male that will hunt but only goes 300yards males a loop and comes back will tree with another dog but not solo.......all these dogs have had a tough life to say the least and I have a bad problem with trying to save a coon hound and hope for the best... .it often times gets me into trouble !!! I'm wanting to spend my time on just one hound out of the 3 what is the best one to keep and why ??

Myself, id keep the pup if its shows interest. Hunt it and train it how you want. Who knows what may have happened to the older ones.

the 9 month old pup. the other 2 need culled there not coonhounds. there fine if someone wants a pet or house dog but sound like there not worth your time in the woods.

I'm sure most won't agree but I would hunt the two older dogs together and use them to start the pup. When she is ready to single out hunt her alone and sell the other two.
From this board you would never know it but many people would be very happy with two dogs that may not work alone but make a great coon treeing duo.

X2

If you're up to raising some pups, breed that male to your 6 year old female later on. Then sell the two older dogs if 9 month old works out. You never know what you might get. Punch it, go for it, if ya can.

there is no way i would hunt a pup with those 2 old dogs. that is not getting the pup off to a good start. buy a box trap and start the pup.
i sure wouldn't breed something that wont tree it's own coon. wow!

I would get rid of them all..then watch where the red fern grows and start over..just do what billy Coleman does...except get an English or a plott not a redbone..
