Yes on state ground. I tell everyone I get permission from that I won't run dogs for the week prior to and during firearms season. Helps get the permission and keep it.

Hunting

General firearms yes, during the 6 week bow season prior to gun season I don’t. It’s not because I think the dogs will mess up my deer hunting, I’ve proven that is a myth during gun season. It’s just hard to get up and be in a tree 30 minutes before shooting light with a bow if I only slept a few hours. I also am able to run coon dogs year round so it doesn’t affect them much.

Firearm deer season from mid Oct to January; you hunt anyway. It's no problem around here as they run deer with dogs.

Yes but very selective where. Don’t hunt where I know people deer hunt on private ground. Don’t hunt on public ground cause deer gun season In Missouri is only 11 days so don’t want raise fuss with deer hunters.

I stay away from Private ground during rifle season. Our state ground has a 1 week permit rifle hunt. I stay out during that hunt but other then that we hunt year round. I hunted state ground last night and my dog got treed behind a deer camp. I stopped and talked to them they just wanted to know how many we had treed.

No, but it is also against the law here in Illinois. Thankfully our firearms seasons only last 3-4 days at a time and there are only 3 or 4 of them throughout coon season. What stinks is coon season came in on Friday (the 10th) and the first firearm season is this weekend, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Means we can't hunt Thursday-Sunday night. I guess I'll just sit back and think about all the good food we're going to have at Thanksgiving!

Yep, most everyone I know around here (central Indiana) hunts right on through deer firearms season. I make a point not to get out real early at night in case there are hunters out there trailing a crippled deer and certainly make a point to have those dogs home well before daylight, but between those times the deer hunters are in bed asleep.

The hardest part for me is keeping the deer hunters off my coon hunting land.

Yes, I coon hunt during bow and gun season. I do give the woods to the deer gun hunters for the first 3 days of season.. I hunt state land and many deer hunters camp out.

I have had run ins with deer hunters too many times to count over the years. I do try to respect their space, and time.

I hunt but it's stressful. Worry you don't get on someone and worry if a dog gets lost what might happen. It's illegal to run dogs the first 3 nights of gun season in KY.
