Haulers Beware

I want to share a recent problem I had with a seller and buyer so other haulers will be aware.
In 15 years of transport I have never ever had anything like this happen. Couple times bounced checks or people not having correct money but that was always resolved.
May 16 a man in Texas contacted me to pick up a female Walker hound in Ohio. My driver was going to get the dog the evening of the 20th but was delayed by another shipper so dog was rescheduled till the following morning. No one was home so after driver waiting over an hour and both of us calling and texting, the shipper did not reply so I told my driver to leave. I called the man in Texas and indicated we would not be bringing him a dog. He sent me a text right away with a picture of a male dog, said he talked to seller and they agreed for him to get the male instead and my driver went back, located the dog and loaded the dog on his van. We often get dogs when no one is home and also deliver when no one is home so this did not seem out of the ordinary. Within an hour the seller called my driver with threats, yelling that he was having my driver arrested for stealing his dog. I told my driver to get in here, I would deal with them and the dog as he had already lost enough time. I called and called,, also sent text to Texas buyer and he will not reply. Then the wife starts calling and yelling at me. I sent her the text from Texas buyer. She called back, apologized and said that was not the agreement, it was the female and Texas was trying to get the male instead. So they come to my town, I meet them and they get their dog back. My last conversation with them they are going to see an attorney about filing charges against Texas man. What a mess. And I only have the text with Texas phone number telling me the seller agreed to let him have the male. I just want to warn other haulers that we already know there are plenty of crooks out there but now it appears there also are people doing scams about dogs. I can not name names on this post or I could be banned however if you send me a PM I will share that information so others don't get involved. I don't need any of the newbe haulers trying to tell me what I should and should not have done. I've been on here longer than any of you and hauled more dogs than you ever will so keep your advice to yourself.
