Barking On Track???

quick question ,I got 2 blue dogs litter mates,2 yrs old,can run and tree on there own, when on tree non stop chop, but they have never barked on track, not that it is a big deal as I am a pleasure hunter, but just curious is it a trait that is taught by running with other dogs or how or when does it begin or will it never begin, thanks

Well if they are two years old and still not opening on track, they are NEVER EVER going to be real open. Now they may let out a few barks if they are sight chasing a coon but for the most part you are only going to her the tree end of the coon track.

This is USUALLY a (what i call) an inborn trait. Probably one or both parents were pretty tight on the ground as well but it could just as easily be a grandparent or great grand parent.

Young dogs will sometimes learn from the dog they are hunting with, to do what that dog is doing, but they will not do exactly as that dog is doing from simply being run along side that dog. genetics will play part of the role now matter what you are hunting with.

Good Luck with them and enjoy them as much as you can.
