How is the hunting around Batesville Mississippi?

I would just like to hear some different opinions about how the hunting is?

I have only been to WC once a couple years ago but it has been by far my most favorite place i have hunted. Hunted there 3 nights and scored on several coon each night. Easy walking and decent weather. Never traveled over 30 minutes from Batesville either.

Hunting varies around Batesville; any area west will probably be flat delta hunting, from large woods to small patches. You can expect some water in any area that is flat. To the east, some hills, mostly small, no mountains. I only hunt in the Delta, we have a good coon population from what I've seen. I'm sure it doesn't compare to some of the Northern states, but we don't have trouble treeing coons. There will the usual off game, plus lots of hogs in some areas, armadillos, etc. This weekend, I'm hunting 2 large clubs on the river(Mississippi) that haven't been hunted any; should tree a lot. My favorite hunting is small patches and long narrow sloughs, coons will be more concentrated in this type hunting. Scoring lots of points is possible; depends on how the dogs work and the guide. Good hunting to all that come. Jr.Steelman
