Driving ?

Would someone explain again what situations allow you to drive to dogs in a ukc night hunt ? If there is such a thing....

Well, i think you missed this one Joe. Page 139 Second Adition of the Advisor book. The short answer is you cannot hunt from any kind of vehicle but you CAN move around by vehicle to get closer to dogs. About the second time you do it, UKC is prolly gonna decide you were hunting from a vehicle. So, you can get away with it about one time per hunt.

Thats the short version. The long version is explained on pages 139, 140 of the Book.

You can call timeout and drive to dogs, ONLY if all the cast agrees, then call time in and score them. If dogs were trailing when time out was called then are treed once you arrive to them and time in is you you need to spilt the tree points. I'm not sayin I agree with it at all, there's way too much that can happen in that drive time, but it's allowed.

i think there would be a lot more senior cast if we were allowed too get there anyway we can as long as the cast is in full agreement be it truck mule buggy or boat cast must stay together why walk when you can ride ! think about how many older guy's that show up compete in field trials, treeing contest, water races or shows that would love to stay and hunt but they just can't take all that walking i know i can't and i won't senior cast only !!

I don't have the second addition advisory,so if all dogs trail out 700 yards and cross an old road and keep goin you can call time out and drive around to the place they crossed and call time back in, and if any are treed split the tree points on all treed dogs ?

That would seem like a really good idea until you consider that they would be competing with casts that have to walk to every tree. Then it don't seem so fair.

any of you ever hunted with a cast of seniors no huge scores as many are also blind and deaf creating many minus and circle points !

This has been covered before. If you CAN walk you SHOULD walk.

Driving is reserved for when it is needed to keep control of the dogs and cast.

Dogs go over the top of the mountain running the coon and it's 1.5 miles straight up. You can't score any dogs, you won't be able to until you cross over yourself.

If all agree you can call time out and drive around and call time in once you are where you should be able to judge the dogs again. We usually agree to listen for a minute so that any dog that is there can get credit. Dogs treed are split, if they are not treed you then carry on.

Same if the cross a large river, you can call time out and drive around by bridge as opposed to trying to swim.

More than once or twice in a cast though and UKC will say you are hunting from a vehicle, and everyone has to agree.
