I have a heck of a dog if you need one. He just needs some hunting.

ITS HARD TO TELL IF YOU HAVE A HECK OF A DOG WHEN YOUR HUNTING GEAR IS A RECLINER AND A REMOTE CONTROL DON.

Most of the time when you hear that phrase is when he is not as good as what you are hunting, and you've placed him on the back burner and just want him gone.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe the dog is a good one that just needs someone to hunt it? Maybe that is why the phrase is so popular. A lot of people get a good dog and their life changes and they are not able to hunt it.
Sometimes you just have to know who is calling it a "good dog". One man's "good dog" might be another man's average dog.

I just sold one and that's exactly what I told the guy. A week later he put her on a lion and called thanking me and told me to sign the papers over. He couldn't believe that the dog was exactly like I said. Like I told him, there's no point in lying about a dog. As soon as you unsnap the leash the truth comes out.

That is exactly what I told Rex and Danny when I sold them Freddy. Rex hunted him hard for 6 mos and took him to Redbone Days and won Overall Champion. If you buy a dog that the owner tells you needs to be hunted and then put him in a kennel and let him sit, do you think that it is the previous owner's fault if the dog doesn't turn out?
Do not buy a dog when the owner tells you up front that he needs to be hunted if you are not going to hunt him. And don't buy a good dog at a good dog price and expect him to be a great dog.

That isn't correct. You can buy a dog that is ready to go. But you are going to have to pay up.

Lots of good dogs for sale but very few great dogs for sale. The problem is most people have different perceptions or definitions of just what a "good dog" is. One mans "good dog" might be another mans cull. Some people are a lot harder to please than others.
The same can be said for the price or worth of a dog. One mans $2,000 dog may be another mans $1,000 dog.
