Make sure if you got puppies you keep em warm. Cherry Bomb had 13 and it's suppose to be -1 tomorrow night and -8 the next night so I brought em into my heated breeze way and laid down a blanket...then a heating pad and a plastic kiddie pool over top. Raising pups in the winter can be a challenge...make sure their warm enough, dry, and the female has plenty of room to nurse and switch positions. Good luck to everyone raising a litter over the winter

I'm raising pup born 6 weeks ago. She was the only only one born, so her name is Solo. Its going to be -3 here tomorrow, I think she will be fine out with her mother. Im feeding the pup a ton of food in this cold. I bedded them down with fresh straw so they should be cozy. The newborn pups are the ones I worry about in the real cold. Illinois is a crazy state. The record high temp is 117 and the record low is -36. most winters it gets down to -20 actual temp, Ive seen it -29. add a good wind and you will find out what REAL COLD is Why do I live here???? Maybe because we have plenty of coon, and the mississippi river with trophy flathead catfish.

I went out last night, was 19 out but while I was out it warmed up to 24. Took one hound, she made a big den tree, but worked her butt off the find it.My poor hounds feet were all bleeding pretty bad from the ice Im ready for some of your warm southern air to head our direction!

Weatherman on the TV just said that it was going to be "brutal cold". I guess that there is now cold, real cold and then brutal cold. I got to experience the real cold in Pennsylvania yesterday morning and I am headed back up to the brutal cold of Indiana tomorrow. I sure don't like it.

Your weather is almost here jack. Same forecast for us tomorrow. My dogs are spoiled. Dog houses are in the shed. Heated beds. Heated water buckets & I keep it about 45 in there with the wood burner. I'm getting soft in my older age. My dogs never had that stuff years ago!

Been in Mexico the last week. Was tough to come home to this after it was 80 down there all week! Just wish they had coon to run!

I guess "cold" all depends on where you live. It was 27 degrees when I got up this morning and I thought that it was cold. If it was -22 I wouldn't even get up.
