Question - Dog Going Blind

Does anyone have experience with a dog going blind over night?

This dog had been heartworm tested negative and was on Ivermectin ever since, then recently diagnosed with adult heart worms after noticing a lack of energy and a cough.

The vet gave us Doxycycline to use orally for a month as the first stage of heart work treatment. A day after starting on the doxycycline, the dog went blind in both eyes. Her eyes aren't milky, just extremely dilated pupils. The vet says the medicine wouldn't cause this to happen and to keep her on the medication. He also said he can't figure out what is causing blindness and that I needed to take her to a University vet to have her eyes tested.

Can anyone provide feedback on any similar experience? Everything I read indicates there is little to no chance for the eyesight to come back.

Thanks in advance.

Blind

I had a little dog, one time, he had tick parlizes, he could hardly move, i gave him a shot of penicelin, took him to a vet, he put him on tetracycline. The next day his eyes, were blue, he was blinder then a bat. I took him to, see a specilist, he gave me this salve to put in his eyes, he got back to normal, in a week or so. I asked the vet what caused it he said the ticks.

Blind

Yes , my female did exact thing . My female had infection of central nervous system. Can't remember antibiotic used but it was thick and and to inject it daily for three weeks. Yes she got about all of her vision back. Blind completely just over nite and pupil were large too. Low energy and acted sick. I took her to bean blossom. Good luck and hope your dog comes out of it.
