I wouldn't jump up and down in a victory dance too quickly. If you define amnesty by a President stating, I hereby grant you amnesty, then no, that wont happen. If you define amnesty as people here illegally that will end up staying, then yes.
Trump will deport criminal aliens, and those here illegally that get caught committing a crime. After that my bet is the ones that are living a quiet life will be left alone. Just so I don't get accused of twisting things or listening to liberal media, here is Trump's exact words from his speech.
"Importantly, in several years, when we have accomplished all of our enforcement goals – and truly ended illegal immigration for good, including the construction of a great wall, which we will have built in record time and at a reasonable cost, which you never hear from the government and the establishment of our new lawful immigration system — then and only then will we be in a position to consider the appropriate disposition of those who remain."
"Then and only then will we be in a position to consider the appropriate disposition of those who remain."
So in other words years later we will talk about what to do with those here illegally but not causing problems. We all know where that will end. Ripping current law abiding people apart with kids that are American citizens, is not going to happen.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for stopping the flow of illegal immigrants, and deporting those who committed crimes immediately, and stopping sanctuary cities.
But if the ones that remain who've led quiet lives, are not deported, (and I'm betting they wont be) is that not amnesty? Does not officially granting them amnesty change that, if the end result is the same??
